GOOF / HEBREW LANGUAGE
It begins with a notebook.
Students learn to write the Hebrew alef-bet (alphabet), enforcing their acquired knowledge through the creative arts. We explore the initial process of learning the letters as an anatomical body-mind exercise, moving from the hands to the throat and finally to their entire bodies.
With their hands…they use the letters and vowels to draw pictures of English words that begin with the sound that letter makes.
With their voices…they sing the Aleph Bet song, and some fun, made-up songs to enforce the progression of the letters.
With their bodies…they play games such as Hebrew Letters Charades and Hebrew Soccer, and they act out little plays in which the letters are characters.
